Regina Browne

...art quilts & fabric collage.

"My first response to fabric is to touch. Having glass between me and the dresses, the lace, the ribbons, the shoes in museums makes me pace all around the enclosure and stick my nose against the glass. It's in my fingers that I think I can see.

"I have always loved fabric and recreating fabrics. I spent hours making clothes, hats and quilts for dolls from scraps from my grandmother. Later I made quilts for family and friends and I am still surprised when I see a quilt at a friend's house that I made years ago and had forgotten.

"It is still 'playing with fabrics', touching, feeling, cut, pin, overlay, cut again, too dark, too light. Hang it on the wall, pass by it each day. Look at it backwards in a mirror, turn it upside down, cut and pin again. It's still a great experiment in playing with fabrics and while I love the product, I love the process more."
