"Whatever artists say about themselves is bullshit. The only thing that matters is what's on the wall. If it works, it works.

"Art is a job, pure and simple. It's just work. Yeah, I've tried all the mediums except bronze . . . and maybe not pottery. I love oils; that's my favorite. But right now I'm experimenting with watercolor on gesso. It's just what I have to do. I can't explain it."
