Pilar Hanson

Pilar Hanson is a mixed media artist working with acrylic paint, charcoal, pencil, and transfers in a process of layering and mark making. Found objects and pieces of metal are sometimes incorporated into her work as well. Her work addresses time and place. Although local geography, culture, and history inform her work, it is ultimately the internal mappings of the experience of place that is expressed in her paintings.

Pilar has lived and traveled extensively throughout the western states. She studied art in both Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon, and received an MFA degree in Painting from Portland State University. Her work is exhibited nationally, and she was featured in the Pacific Coast edition of New American Paintings.
