CURLEY ARTISTS

Meet the Makers of the Curley Campus

From painters and poets to ceramicists and community builders, our residents form the creative heartbeat of the Curley School. Each artist brings a unique vision and voice to this historic space, shaping not only their own work but the energy of the entire campus. Get to know some of the people who make this place come alive below.

Roberto Q. Narcho (Bobby)

A citizen of the Tohono O’odham Nation, Bobby Narcho lives and creates in Ajo, Arizona. Bobby’s artistic range spans photography, videography, and music, exploring themes from warm desert light to haunting surrealism. His work is steeped in personal narrative, cultural connection, and creative experimentation.

Jose “Buck” Sandoval

Born and raised in Southern Arizona, Buck Sandoval expresses what words cannot through his artwork. A self-taught sculptor, he works primarily with recycled metal, transforming discarded objects into evocative pieces that capture memory, emotion, and place. His art is both rooted in permanence and alive with reinterpretation—each sculpture a story reframed in steel.

Rich Salgado & Ashley Duwyenie

Entrepreneurs and community builders, Rich and Ashley have been Curley School residents since 2019. Together they run two Ajo-based food businesses—Nina’s Taqueria and Road Runner Express—known for mouthwatering staples like birria and carne asada tacos. Rich brings culinary expertise rooted in his family’s restaurant tradition, while Ashley leads the business side, having completed ISDA’s DreamBuilder program. Along with their daughter Nina, they exemplify creative entrepreneurship at Curley, blending talent, hard work, and a deep love for community.

Daryl Cicle

Daryl Cicle joined the Curley School community in 2020 after a career as a general contractor designing and building homes. Now retired, Daryl channels his eye for detail into photography. His work is inspired by the subtle textures and quiet compositions of everyday life. You can catch his pieces at pop-up shows in the Curley Gallery or catch him at other local and state events.
